About The Position
We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner for a 60-day locum tenens assignment in Tennessee, starting Oct 20, 2025. This role offers day shifts, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The assignment involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a correctional setting while collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing physicians orders, dispensing and administering medications, performing patient examinations and treatments
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clinical problems and health care needs
  • Record physical findings, formulate prognoses, and collaborate with physicians and health professionals to develop comprehensive patient care plans
  • Recommend drugs and other forms of treatment within licensure scope
  • Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate appropriate release timing
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area
  • Assist with monitoring provision of all required contractual services
  • Foster effective working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies
  • Utilize established corporate, facility, and correctional policies and procedures while exercising independent judgment
  • Evaluate medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of medical records and verify documentation of services provided
  • Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and recommend interventions
  • Suggest methods to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness of health services
  • Audit pharmacy use and ensure compliance with applicable pharmacy laws
  • Observe and record inmate or resident behavior
  • Accept on-call status as required
  • Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups
  • Interpret medical and technical procedures, governmental regulations, and process legal documents as needed
  • Review and respond to lawsuits through corporate counsel and attend court hearings if necessary
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary committee meetings to promote and monitor healthcare quality
  • Engage in secure functions, including working rotating shifts and verifying facility security
  • Evaluate and recommend safety requirements for a secure working environment

Additional Information
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with family practice training in Tennessee
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Minimum one year of professional nursing experience
  • US Citizenship required for ICE clearance; expedited process in place
  • Candidates subject to thorough background and credit investigation
