SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Training Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring that all maintenance personnel-both new hires and existing employees-are properly trained in safety procedures, equipment usage, and job-specific responsibilities. This role supports technical growth, promotes compliance, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise maintenance personnel and training staff, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.

Supervise maintenance personnel and training staff, ensuring alignment with company goals and operational standards. Coordinate closely with the Maintenance Superintendent to align training initiatives with broader company objectives. Manage shift cycles and training schedules to ensure consistent coverage and efficient skill development. Deliver hands-on training in safety, tool usage, and mechanical equipment operation. Instruct on Lockout/Tagout procedures, SSOPs, GMPs, and plant policies. Develop and manage the Maintenance Training Matrix to align skills with career paths. Facilitate TWI-JI (Training Within Industry - Job Instruction) methodology. Organize quarterly technical workshops focused on troubleshooting and system optimization. Promote cross-functional training with production and safety teams. Maintain training records, tool inventory, and shift schedules. Monitor progress of new hires; provide coaching, feedback, and performance updates. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and food safety standards. Collaborate with external vendors for specialized equipment training.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have a High School Diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution and 2 - 3 years of experience in a meat processing facility or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE:

Mechanical, electrical, welding and pneumatics.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

SQF Certification preferred.

OSHA Certification preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to write reports and business correspondence, and ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents in the English language, such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must effectively communicate with USDA, production, and management personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to understand basic statistics for process control.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available. SQF Certification preferred.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 plus pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold/hot, and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, may be in tight spaces, and around live animals. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperatures, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.
