SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for ownership of the design, test, and manufacturing efforts of new and developing sensor technologies for use in critical space flight applications. The role includes oversight of contributing team members assisting with the sensor development efforts. In addition to the introduction of new products, the individual in this role will contribute to the improvement of existing sensor designs and expand upon their current success. This is a critical role within the organization that directly contributes to the success of the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Research emerging technologies in bonded foil strain gage, piezoelectric (resistive and capacitive), and thin film for their usage in their best intended application. Full ownership of the NPI effort for new sensing technologies and their development into Stellar's product portfolio. Design and manufacturing oversight of hardware supporting future growth opportunities for continuously developing customer applications. This includes full manufacturing support through product launch and its lifecycle. Develop and execute qualification efforts related to the implementation of new technologies and products. Manage project schedules, weekly task allocation, identification and removal of roadblocks, and status updates for sensor development projects. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for the members of the team. Performs other related duties as assigned by management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field. 15-20 years' experience in sensing technology or 5-10 years' experience and a PHD in an applicable technical field. 20+ years' experience in sensing technology preferred. Advanced degree related to the design and manufacturing of sensing technologies preferred. Expertise in sensing technologies with hands on experience in their implementation and usage. Ability to lead and navigate product road maps. Proficient in effective communication (verbal and written) with internal and external parties. Ability to generate end to end documentation required for product launch (internal, external, regulatory, and other third-party certification bodies). Proficient in bonded foil strain gage and or piezoresistive technologies with the technical aptitude to learn and implement varying design approaches. Strong foundation in electrical and mechanical sensor design theory.
