Overview

This position is with the Michigan Department of Corrections and is focused on electrical systems maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement, including overhead and underground extension and distribution systems, security and fire alarms, intrusion systems, exterior and interior lighting, interior power systems, and utilization equipment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and order equipment and materials for work on the listed electrical and safety systems.
- Perform operation, maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of electrical distribution systems (120/208, 480V, single and three-phase), security and fire alarm and intrusion systems, exterior and interior lighting, and interior power systems.
- Ensure security of and supervise inmates, tools, and equipment as required.
Required Education and Experience
- Education: Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
- Experience: One year of electrical trade experience equivalent to an Electrician Licensed 9.
Additional Requirements and Information
- Possession of a journeyman electrician's license.

- New hires to the MDOC and returning employees may complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) and additional online training as part of onboarding.
