Job Title: Controls TechnicianJob Description
As a Controls Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Plant Engineer in maintaining and troubleshooting the operations of a highly automated 24/7 manufacturing facility. The facility's automated systems include food processing, refrigeration, filling, packaging, boiler, air generation, and wastewater systems. You will report directly to the Plant Engineer and provide support to the Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities
Read and understand electrical wiring diagrams.
Use Electrical AutoCAD for design purposes.
Commission, diagnose, calibrate, maintain, and repair environmental-control systems and processes, utilizing knowledge of electronics, direct digital control (DDC), airflow, hydronics, refrigeration theory, pH sensors, flow meters, electrical meters, and system control techniques.
Collaborate with the Controls Engineer, Maintenance Personnel, and plant personnel to ensure all control systems, mechanical and electromechanical field devices operate according to the basis of design.
Troubleshoot electrical controls related process issues.
Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with safety policies.
Work extended or flexible hours/shifts as required.
Review and update all equipment records for history of preventive/predictive maintenance and service activities to ensure an adequate maintenance schedule is in place.
Report on the status of assigned equipment maintenance and repair activities to the supervisor.
Operate, maintain, and trend the Building Automation Systems for the entire site.
Perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and corrections as needed.
Participate in structured group or team activities related to line/area performance improvement, autonomous maintenance, housekeeping, and problem-solving.
Share knowledge and develop maintenance skills in operator technicians.
Evaluate and provide input for assembly, tooling, and equipment prints for existing and new program changes.
Troubleshoot and diagnose instrumentation, set up, and provide some calibration support and training for electricians including ownership of calibration methods.
Complete project tasks within time and budget constraints.
Work is reviewed for overall accuracy, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment.

Experience with PLC control systems, programming, integration, installation, upgrade, and troubleshooting of Rockwell, Siemens, ABB, or others.
Initialize, modify, upgrade, and troubleshoot VFD including Rockwell, Parker, Lenze, Yokogawa, Reliance, Emerson, ABB.
Exercise technical, mechanical, and control system aptitude/skills to accurately identify root causes for machine failures or breakdowns and repair them accordingly.
Debugging and troubleshooting of instrumentations and controls.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in Allen-Bradley, Allen Bradley PLC, Ladder Logic, troubleshooting, PLC programming, AutoCAD, and HMI programming.
Associates degree in controls or electrical engineering technologies or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3+ years working in manufacturing; Minimum 2+ years as a controls technician or equivalent experience.
Competency with CAD systems, supervisory control systems, Ladder Logic, and other programs specific to the work environment.
Work Environment
The role is set in a highly automated 24/7 manufacturing facility, requiring flexibility with work hours and shifts. The workplace involves working with advanced technologies and equipment, requiring adherence to safety standards and policies. The dress code and attire align with maintaining safety and operational efficiency. The facility is a food and beverage manufacturing setting, and appropriate safety gear such as steel-toe shoes and safety glasses are required. The shift schedule follows a 2-2-3 pattern with rotating day and night shifts from 6am-6:30pm and 6pm-6:30am.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.89 - $42.52/hr.
