Job Title: Process/Chemical Engineer

Job Description

Join our team as a Process/Chemical Engineer, where you will be responsible for managing process parameters and equipment implementation within the rubber Mixing Department. This role focuses on reducing variability and addressing production issues. Collaborate with Compounder, chemists, and VP Technology to innovate and modify formulations, while working closely with various departments to creatively implement technology. Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 standards by developing and maintaining work instructions.

Responsibilities

Provide technical service to production by instructing operators and creating documentation for mixing processes, cure cycles, temperatures, and other process requirements.

Create graphs and analyze production parameters data.

Engage extensively with Enterprise software (QAD) and equipment software to identify data, develop relationships, and set up formulations for production.

Develop and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers.

Provide technical service to customers by evaluating their specific product needs.

Adjust formulations for scorch consistency by modifying formulations, altering mixing cycles, or running S.P.C. and changing control gates.

Utilize work away stock by leveraging knowledge of stock and using formulations.

Identify and recommend process changes that result in cost and scrap reductions.

Recommend compounds for quoting.

Evaluate raw materials for cost reductions.

Make recommendations for improving the effectiveness of policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Polymer Science.

Experience in mill mixing, Banbury mixing, molding, injection, transfer/compression, extrusion, hot and cold feed, and curing of extrusion using salt microwave or autoclave.

Knowledge of rubber QC and development tests and equipment.

Thorough understanding of ISO 9001.

Knowledge of various polymers and properties.

Familiarity with ingredients used in rubber formulations such as cure systems, reinforcing agents, plasticizers, fillers, antioxidants, and activators.

Proficiency in SPC and 8-D problem-solving methods.

Experience in rubber formulating and manufacturing engineering.

Work Environment

Work in a well-established, large industrial warehouse environment. The facility has a mix of both old and new machinery, including production-scale rubber internal mixers, mills, batch-off cooling equipment, and feeding and ancillary equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

401 K match, paid PTO and holiday
