Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description

The Quality Engineer is an integral part of the quality team, responsible for completing and submitting PPAP documentation to customers, including FAI packages, conducting root cause analysis, and assisting in maintaining all aspects of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. This role requires input on developing and implementing improvement strategies for the Quality Management System. A successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as part of a team, multitask, be a self-starter, and be hands-on. This is a full-time position, and is not eligible for remote working.

Responsibilities

Maintain and control active revision levels of part prints and related documentation.

Prepare, coordinate, and compile First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages for customer submission and approval.

Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including conducting internal audits and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Interface with ISO and customer auditors when required; ensure compliance and implement corrective actions as needed.

Perform and analyze process capability studies.

Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues and implement corrective actions using the 8D methodology.

Track and report external defect rates, initiate and communicate corrective action reports.

Record, review, and disposition non-conforming materials from internal, supplier, and customer sources using the MRB process.

Complete Return Material Authorizations (RMA) and generate rework routers when required.

Support general quality and operational initiatives as needed.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in PPAP, root cause analysis, quality engineering, and GD&T.

Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.

Ability to conduct First Article Inspection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering, OR a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in quality within a manufacturing setting.

Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications; full proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.

Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 is required; experience managing a certified QMS is a plus.

Proficient with quality tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, control charts, histograms, fishbone diagrams, and 5 Whys analysis.

Prior experience in production machining is highly preferred (e.g., turning, milling, Swiss-turn, mill-turn, multi-spindle turning, broaching, honing, grinding, rotary transfer machining, EDM).

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of New Britain, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
