Job Description Job Title: RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery/Postpartum Duration: 10 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience required License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP required. NCC-EFM or RNC-OB preferred. Must-Have: Experience with all aspects of LDRP patient care, including circulating c-sections and newborn care, including heel sticks, 24-hour testing, NAS scoring, and lactation support.
Description: This position involves providing nursing care in the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units. The unit sees approximately 1,500 patients per year. There are 29 beds and 1 operating room suite. Patient ratios are based on acuity. There is 1-3 Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) per shift, with typically 1 being a Student Technician (ST). Common high-risk diagnoses include postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), diabetic patients requiring insulin drips, premature rupture of membranes (PROM), and placenta previa. Common GYN surgical cases include hysterectomies. Support within the department includes one OB Tech per shift and access to a charge nurse and case manager 24/7. OB physicians and pediatricians are available around the clock. Lactation consultants are also part of the support team. This position does not include remote telemonitoring. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. IV pumps are Alaris, and medication dispensing is handled by Omnicell. Fetal monitoring is done with Phillips GE Corometrics fetal monitors and GE Panda Warmers. The role may require floating to other facilities within the region based on the needs of the organization. If floating mid-shift, the traveler will be compensated for travel time. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Shift times are either 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM on a schedule cycle of every 6 weeks. Scrub color is navy blue or business casual to and from work. Hospital-issued scrubs are required while on duty.
