Resistance Spot Welding Specialist Location:
Belvidere, IL (100% Onsite - Local candidates only or those willing to relocate)
Role Overview: The
Resistance Spot Welding Specialist
will support our client's vehicle assembly process engineering team. You will be involved in launching, sustaining, and innovating welding processes across North American assembly plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that line integrators and welding equipment suppliers meet resistance spot welding specifications. Participate in throughput analysis and optimization. Collaborate with Product Engineering, Material Suppliers, Equipment Suppliers, and Integrators. Support vehicle program timelines and quality goals. Maintain program tracking documents to ensure timing deliverables. Assist with issue resolution across Product, Manufacturing, and Plant teams. Verify product conformance to design specifications. Provide on-site support during program execution and launch phases. Assist in startup, debug, and integration of resistance spot weld equipment. Report status updates for operating units. Optimize resistance spot weld systems to improve productivity, cost-efficiency, and quality. Lead cross-functional engineering projects. Enforce standardization of welding technologies and inspection systems. Provide technical guidance to suppliers and plant teams. Conduct equipment buyoffs.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum). Minimum
5 years of experience
in resistance spot welding. Deep understanding of resistance spot weld technologies and applications. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical welding systems. Experience with adhesives/sealers, welding documentation, and build shop support. Strong troubleshooting skills for tooling and equipment. Familiarity with manufacturing safety procedures. Excellent cross-functional communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of automotive industry experience supporting body shop and plant launches. Thorough understanding of automotive body shop processes. Ability to independently develop and execute validation projects in non-standard environments.
