Position Title: Resistance Spot Welding Specialist
Location: Auburn Hills, MI - 100% Onsite
Only local candidates or those willing to relocate will be considered.
Onboarding Requirement: Due to additional onboarding procedures, all new hires must participate in an in-person "meet and greet" prior to assignment start. Candidates must be willing to visit the nearest *** office, client site, or offsite location as directed by the project team.
If non-local , travel will be
covered by the project team . A project code will be provided for reimbursement via SAP Fieldglass. A travel policy document will also be shared for adherence.
Position Overview: As a
Resistance Spot Welding Specialist , you will support the client's vehicle assembly process engineering operations across North America. This includes launch support, system sustainment, and process innovation. The role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) equipment and systems meet corporate standards and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure suppliers deliver RSW equipment meeting company specifications. Participate in throughput analyses and process improvement. Collaborate with Product Engineering, Material Suppliers, Equipment Suppliers, and Integrators. Manage documentation and program timing deliverables. Resolve issues between Product Eng., Manufacturing Eng., and Plant Ops. Ensure product design conformance. Provide onsite support during execution and launch phases. Support RSW equipment integration, startup, and debugging. Lead business process reengineering initiatives. Report on RSW system status at operating units. Optimize systems to improve productivity, quality, and cost. Provide technical guidance to suppliers and internal teams. Conduct RSW equipment buy-offs. Develop and maintain RSW technology standards.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma (minimum). 5+ years of experience in Resistance Spot Welding. Strong understanding of RSW technologies and mechanical/electrical systems. Experience with adhesive and sealer procedures. Tooling and equipment troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of manufacturing safety procedures. Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to manage multiple assignments in high-pressure environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years in the Automotive industry, supporting launch in body shops or plants. In-depth knowledge of automotive body shop processes. Ability to lead structured validation projects without existing standardized work.
