The OAG is seeking an energetic and dynamic professional to support the Child Support Information Technology hardware allocation team. As an Inventory Specialist, you will support the Computer Allocation Center (CAC) in Austin, Texas. This position will have the incredible responsibility for managing, monitoring, deploying, and addressing any physical inventory-related items to the IT team as well as coordinating escalations, logistics, and other support needs for our team members across the state. This position requires a high-energy, self-directed individual with familiarity or experience in the inventory field with the willingness to learn and grow professionally.

Description

The CAC Inventory Specialist will manage large inventory at the computer allocation center, assist with surplus processes and purchase requests, support the CAC program supervisor with daily warehouse operations, prepare and manage inventory databases, transfer inventory between assets, image equipment as required, and maintain the warehouse space. The primary inventory liaison for the Information Technology department is responsible for conducting and reporting monthly and yearly inventory reports. The role coordinates and/or reviews incoming operational issues and requests for technical assistance related to computers, software, and office equipment; logs the type of problem; and monitors status to ensure timely resolution. It also involves setting up equipment for employee use and ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or software. The role requires managing numerous projects in parallel, meeting tight schedules, owning inventory counts in storage, and ensuring timely receipts of incoming and outgoing assets. Telework may be permitted per the agency’s Telework Plan if operations and service levels are not adversely affected.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and/or prioritize incoming operational issues and requests for technical assistance related to computers, software, and standard office equipment; identify and log problem types and monitor status for timely resolution.
  • Coordinate and/or set up equipment for employee use and perform or ensure proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
  • Manage numerous projects in parallel, work to tight schedules, and ensure on-time delivery of commitments.
  • Own inventory counts in storage and ensure timely receipts of incoming and outgoing assets.
  • Perform related duties as assigned and maintain knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions.
  • Attend work regularly in compliance with the agreed-upon schedule; telework may be allowed per policy.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information and comply with agency policies, including ethics and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; or Bachelor’s degree with related field experience. Substitution rules apply (year-for-year) for computer science, hardware management, MIS, project management, or inventory management.
  • Knowledge of computer operations, software, hardware, information systems, and information security policies.
  • Skills in computer support, troubleshooting, and using relevant programs and systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines; strong communication and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in person at an OAG location if needed and arrange for business-related travel; ability to lift and relocate up to 30 lbs.; travel up to 5%.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed (FLSA considerations).
  • Preferred qualifications: experience with state government systems and CHAMP certification or similar.
