Overview

The Office of the Attorney General is a dynamic organization with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. The OAG is seeking an energetic and dynamic professional to support the Child Support Information Technology hardware allocation team. As an Inventory Specialist, you will support the Computer Allocation Center (CAC) in Austin, Texas. This position will have the incredible responsibility for managing, monitoring, deploying, and addressing any physical inventory-related items to the IT team as well as coordinating escalations, logistics, and other support needs for our team members across the state. Responsibilities

  • Manage large inventory at the Computer Allocation Center for the OAG.
  • Provide assistance with surplus processes and purchase requests; support the CAC program supervisor with daily CAC warehouse operations.
  • Prepare and manage inventory databases; complete forms to transfer inventory from asset to asset; image equipment as required; maintain the warehouse space; act as primary inventory liaison for the Information Technology department responsible for monthly and yearly inventory reporting.
  • Coordinate and/or review and prioritize incoming operational issues and requests for technical assistance related to computers, software, and standard office equipment; identify and log problem types; monitor status to ensure timely resolution.
  • Coordinate and/or set up equipment for employee use; perform or ensure proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
  • Manage numerous projects in parallel; perform to tight schedules and ensure on-time delivery; assume ownership of inventory counts in storage and timely receipts of incoming and outgoing assets.
  • Perform related work as assigned; maintain knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions; attend work regularly in compliance with schedule; telework may be permitted based on the agency’s Telework Plan.
  • Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information; comply with agency policies and procedures including ethics and integrity.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; experience in computer science, hardware management, management information systems, project management, or inventory management may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of computer operations, software and hardware, information systems, and information security policies and procedures.
  • Skills in supporting computers, using applicable programs and systems, troubleshooting information systems; coordinating multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines; effective communication; exercising sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback; work cooperatively with others in a professional environment; work in person at an OAG work location if needed.
  • Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel if needed; ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA; ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.; ability to travel up to 5%.
  • Preferred: Experience with state government systems; Certification as a Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP) or similar.
