Function of Position:
The NSEC Office Assistant provides clerical support to the Natural Science Education Center. This role assists with daily office operations including communication, record-keeping, scheduling, and front-desk reception. The position ensures smooth administrative functioning and contributes to a welcoming and organized environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors at the Natural Science Education Center
Sort, date-stamp, and distribute incoming mail
File documents including correspondence, reports, records, and requisitions
Retrieve and organize materials from files and maintain accurate records
Operate office equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, and copiers
Prepare materials for mailing, including envelope stuffing and label creation
Answer phones, provide routine program information, take messages, and direct calls
Schedule meetings and appointments for staff

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative)
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Familiarity with office procedures and equipment
Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Pay Rate: $15.50/hour
Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/week
