Inventory Specialist, Supply Chain / Materials

Role Overview The Inventory Specialist ensures that parts, raw materials, and components are accurately tracked, received, stored, and issued in support of high-precision manufacturing operations. This role is critical to maintaining inventory integrity, enabling efficient production flow, and minimizing loss or discrepancies in a technically demanding environment.
Responsibilities Receive, inspect, and process incoming raw material and components; verify against documentation for part numbers, quantities, revisions, and damage Store inventory in defined locations (bins, racks, drawers) with clear labeling and traceability Execute picking and kitting operations-assemble production kits per bill of materials, confirming completeness Perform regular cycle counts, maintain stock accuracy, and reconcile discrepancies (including root-cause analysis) Monitor shelf life and enforce proper FIFO rotation; manage expiry-sensitive parts Record all inventory movements in ERP systems; issue material to authorized work orders with serialization and lot trace logging Uphold material handling procedures, desk instructions, and SOPs to ensure compliance and efficiency Support company-wide metrics and continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, flow, and loss reduction Maintain organization and cleanliness in storage and staging areas in accordance with 5S standards Proven experience handling inventory or materials control in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy Experience in cycle counting, discrepancy reconciliation, and root cause analysis Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems to record and track movements Knowledge of proper material handling practices and inventory rotation (e.g. FIFO) Ability to work in a hands-on role, maintaining clean, orderly storage and staging areas Good communication skills to liaise with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams Dependability, integrity, and a mindset oriented toward continuous improvement
