Job Duties:
Design and implement robust PLC programming strategies using RSLogix 500, Studio 5000, ensuring seamless integration of new machines into existing production lines and automated systems; Apply knowledge of machine handling and control systems to maximize the efficiency and utilization of all systems across multiple production lines; Provide expert support and troubleshooting for process control issues, implementing program changes to enhance asset performance and reliability; Oversee the design, troubleshooting, and modification of complex software programs for material handling control systems, including advanced PLC/PC controllers (Allen Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix), and Industrial Networks (Ethernet, Profibus, AS-I); Take the lead on projects involving the integration of new production lines and machines, from initial planning and design to implementation and optimization, ensuring seamless integration with overall production processes; Serve as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting and providing high-level support across maintenance teams; Lead and mentor junior engineers in configuring, troubleshooting, and setting up Allen Bradley PowerFlex VFD drives to ensure optimal system performance; Lead the development of new programs and HMI applications using advanced control systems; Lead strategic implementation efforts by conducting in-depth needs analysis, gap assessments, and process optimization for major upgrades in production environments; Provide technical expertise in Fanuc Robotics operations, including teaching pendant programming, parameter modification, and re-teaching robot loci as required by plant needs; Provide technical support for the Edison automated packaging lines and robots, assisting with troubleshooting, system maintenance, and optimization as needed to ensure smooth operations; and Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues within Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), including pallet storage solutions.
Primary Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field
Primary Experience Required:
3 years of experience in the position offered or as a Control Systems Engineer with a focus on Programmable Logic Controller, Human-Machine Interface, and automation systems
Special Requirements:
3 years of experience utilizing PLC programming and system design, including Allen Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), and Rockwell Automation platforms; Configuring and troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drive specifically Allen Bradley PowerFlex drives; Working on Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Human-Machine Interface and Manufacturing Execution System platforms and integrating PLCs and automation systems into these platforms for optimized performance; Leading automation projects from inception to completion, including managing timelines, resources, and technical teams; Working with robotics (Fanuc), and utilizing knowledge of robot operation, programming, and troubleshooting; Utilizing industrial vision systems and sensors and implementing them to meet production and quality control requirements; Leading cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and communicating with leadership and operational teams; Managing multiple concurrent projects in a high-pressure environment; Working at heights of at least 5 stories and wearing protective fall arrest harnesses; Using RS Logix and FactoryTalk automation tools and software; and 2 years of experience providing expert support and troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment specifically in the beverage industry and troubleshooting process control issues.
