Behavior Interventionist Specialist Summary: Providing support to the teachers/staff in the classroom and hallways with specific responsibilities for effecting positive behavioral change in students; providing positive behavioral support for students and classroom teachers by redirecting students with distractile and disruptive behaviors. Maintain a timeout room to help de-escalate the behavior of students and give them time to reflect to improve their behavior and return to class. Provides interventions to targeted students to increase responsible behavior and reduce negative behavior including but not limited to small group and one-on-one interventions. Communicates with student's parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to build and implement a strong support mechanism for the student. Documents, maintains, analyzes and discusses data with the student, parents, and others to determine impact of the interventions.

Essential Functions:

Administers programs and services for students for the purpose of ensuring program eligibility and compliance with established guidelines. Assists students and staff to improve student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and secure educational environment dedicated to academic success. Monitor the timeout rooms and hallways for a safe school learning environment. Confers with teachers, administrators, families and other school staff for the purpose of working collaboratively with students identified with high-risk behaviors. Coordinates with school staff regarding identified students for the purpose of developing plans to direct efforts and interventions ensuring school success. Instructs students individually and in small groups (e.g. appropriate behavior, problem solving, conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, academics, social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of providing students with coping skills and educational success. Maintains, organizes, and develops manual and electronic files (e.g. monthly disciplinary reports, guidelines, procedures, antidotal notes, ) for the purpose of documenting various activities of the program and student interactions. Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions and remain knowledgeable with program guidelines.

Qualifications: -Experience Working With School Age (K-12) Students Preferred -60 College Credits or Passing of Para Pro Exam Preferred
