Primary Objective
The
Assistant Dean of Admissions
working with International Admissions is responsible for leading Lawrence University's international recruitment and admissions efforts. This role combines strategic planning, student engagement, application review, and compliance responsibilities to expand Lawrence's global reach and support institutional enrollment goals. The Assistant Dean manages international partnerships, student ambassador initiatives, and compliance functions (including SEVIS/DSO, ARO duties), and representing Lawrence University to prospective students, families, counselors, and partner organizations around the world.
Job Responsibilities
1. Strategic Recruitment & Partnerships Design, implement, and manage a data-informed recruitment plan to identify, attract, and enroll international students. Represent Lawrence University at international and virtual recruitment events, ensuring impactful follow-up and engagement with prospective students, families, and counselors. Manage partnerships, including territory planning and travel strategy, to expand Lawrence's global reach. Manage exchange and agent relationships. 2. Application Review & Decision Making
Evaluate international student applications using a holistic review process to make informed recommendations for admission and merit scholarships. Serve as a member of the international admissions committee, contributing to strategic enrollment decisions. 3. Counseling & Student Engagement
Provide guidance to international students and their families on Lawrence's programs, admissions process, and financial aid options through virtual and in-person channels. Act as a primary point of contact for high-potential candidates, fostering strong relationships to support enrollment goals. Manage a team of 3-5 student ambassadors. 4. Leadership & Program Development
Collaborate with the Senior Associate Dean to develop initiatives that enhance Lawrence's global outreach and reputation. Collaborate with Lawrence University ISS office and other on campus stakeholders to support international enrollment. 5. Compliance & Professional Stewardship
Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), maintaining compliance with SEVIS regulations and ensuring accurate student record management. Exercise independent judgment in managing recruitment activities, application reviews, and stakeholder interactions. Steward university resources responsibly and maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the role. 6. International & Domestic Travel
Plan and execute travel to key international and domestic markets, representing Lawrence University at school visits, college fairs, and other recruitment activities (6-8 weeks annually). 7. Special Projects & Institutional Collaboration
Lead or participate in cross-functional workgroups and institutional projects to support broader admissions and enrollment goals. 8. Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to meet institutional objectives. Working Relationships:
Collaborate with admissions staff, faculty, International Student Services staff and current students, alumni, and counselors to build and maintain strong partnerships. Engage with diverse communities to promote Lawrence University's inclusive and innovative approach to education.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years in international admissions or a related field, with a proven track record of achieving enrollment goals. Licensing:
Valid driver's license and passport required. Skills: Expertise in international admissions and demonstrated cultural competencies. Exceptional communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail. Proficiency in promoting U.S. liberal arts education to diverse audiences. Experience with database systems and CRM tools (e.g., Slate) preferred. Personal Attributes:
Results-oriented with a collaborative and strategic mindset. Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and supporting access for underrepresented populations.
Flexibility:
Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as required. Employment Requirements:
