Eye Institute at Harborview and the Retina Center at South Lake Union

has an outstanding opportunity for a

Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C).

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)

Monday - Friday

Day Shift

2 positions are available- one located at Harborview Medical center and the other at South Lake Union

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Located two blocks from the main medical center in Harborview's Ninth & Jefferson Building on First Hill in Seattle, the UW Medicine Eye Institute offers cutting-edge medical and surgical eye care for common to complex conditions and disorders.

Our staff provides comprehensive treatment for people with glaucoma, cataracts, diseases of the retina, cornea, orbit and nerves and age-related eye diseases. We also perform refractive procedures such as LASIK and oculofacial plastic surgery procedures.

At the Karalis Johnson Retina Center, we not only provide the most advanced treatments for patients with retinal conditions, but are also using research to move our care forward.

Research scientists and doctors work side by side at this new center, making it one of only three centers in the country where patients can benefit from the combination of clinical care and the latest retinal research and discoveries in a single environment.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records

Perform injections

Prepare and clean exam rooms

Submit medication prior authorizations

Prepare patients for and assist Physicians with intraocular injections and laser procedures

Act as a liaison between patient, patient's family and providers

Perform procedures such as Visual Field tests and glucose monitoring

Schedule new and return appointments; use computer system to check patients in and out of clinics; assist with med refill requests, appointments and requests for eye glass prescriptions

Assist in transporting patients as required

REQUIREMENTS

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation boardOR equivalent

Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment

Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$57,648.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$82,476.00 annual
