Controls Technician III
While reporting to the Plant Engineer, the Electromechanical Technician is responsible for achieving a high level of reliability for plant equipment through performing tasks required to maintain equipment and minimizing downtime. This individual will use their training and knowledge to perform equipment/process/system maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, make repairs, and identify opportunities for improvement. This is a skilled maintenance technician position, whose roles and responsibilities are as follows: Must be able to work safely and follow all Sonoco safety rules and procedures. Must be able to pass electrical skills and safety testing to become a qualified Category 2 worker. Must follow all Highland Packaging Electrical Safety Work Practices and assist in training maintenance personnel. As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for:
Establishing and maintaining accurate, current, and secure documentation of electronic files and supporting software. Application evaluation of electronic systems and software. Once approved, execute design, implementation, modification, and updates to wiring or devices on equipment. Actively participate in process improvement, new installation, and make-ready related to electronic, PLC, or mechanical projects.
Will work on electrical systems up to 480 Volts. Will function as a maintenance technician as needed, responsible for PM duties, project work, and scheduled or breakdown maintenance, when the situation dictates. This includes mechanical work, building repair work. Supervise, follow maintenance-related tasks to guarantee effective completion. Mentoring and training of other members of the Maintenance Department/Label & Printing Department. Available as a resource to be called upon 24/7 for consultation. Subject to emergency call-in. Vendor relations and communication. Work with the site Maintenance Planner concerning inventory management of related electronic spares. Maintaining electrical parts storage areas, housekeeping, and organization. This position is in the Perimeter of the Store Plastics Plant in Plant City, FL. You will need to be Highland Packaging mission-driven. You will need 3-5 years' experience within an industrial setting where your focus was heavily on electrical and electronic devices (PLC, VFD, contactors, PCs, etc.) You must have strong electrical and electronics skills, proficient knowledge of other control applications. Proficient understanding of applicable software, device configuration (VFD, controllers, etc.) Understanding of current applications and systems, mechanical and electrical. Proficient computer skills, word processing, and software understanding. CMMS. Strong general math skills. Proficient use of applicable electronic measuring and diagnostic tools; multimeter, circuit locator, thermal imaging equipment. Strong communication skills, verbal, written, and phone. Organization and time management. Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams. Strong people skills and establishing/maintaining vendor relations.
