ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a
Materials Engineer
for an innovative Nuclear Energy company located in Bellevue. This would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in metallurgy and data acquisition looking to further their career in the nuclear industry.
The primary function of this role will be to develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models of complex materials phenomena based on data from literature and testing programs. These material performance models provide key input for the design and licensing of reactors.
Compile datasets from literature for basic physical and mechanical properties, complex mechanical phenomena (e.g. creep, fatigue, creep-fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture), irradiation performance, corrosion, and tribology Perform Qualification of Existing Data per ASME NQA-1-2015 Develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models as input to computer codes and methods to demonstrate the performance of reactor systems, structures, and components. Plan, execute, and oversee test programs designed to address data gaps Perform quantitative and statistical analysis on test data and generate technical reports to document new knowledge related to reactor design and qualifications Update and maintain a Python-based material database QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a Master's degree. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is desired. A solid understanding of metallurgy including fabrication and thermomechanical processing of ferrous (e.g., ferritic-martensitic steels) and nonferrous (e.g., nickel-base) alloys is required A general understanding of the design of nuclear reactor and subsequent impacts on materials would be considered a plus Travel required: up to 5%
