free

one-on-one tutoring, professional assessments, and other services to low-income children and adults with dyslexia or language-based differences in greater Baltimore. Since 1985, we have helped thousands of individuals learn how to read. All services are free to participants, and all tutors are volunteers. WE HAVE TWO ORTON GILLINGHAM TRAINING COURSES COMING IN SUMMER 2025 (see details below). Our Orton Gillingham training, worth over $1000, is provided FREE to volunteers in return for a commitment to tutor a student in our program one hour per week for 60 hours. This

30 hour, Level I Orton-Gillingham

course teaches you the structured, multisensory literacy skills you need to tutor a student with a dyslexic learning style and help them learn how to read. DTP provides all materials and supplies and you'll receive ongoing support through monthly mentoring sessions, periodic workshops, and dedicated staff to help you and your student succeed! ACCELERATED IN-PERSON COURSE - June 23rd to June 27th, 2025. This 1 week course meets daily in person, for 6 hours. WHEN:

ONLINE COURSE (ZOOM) - June 3rd to July 22nd, 2025. This 6 week course meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 2 hours, via Zoom. WHEN:

Trainings are held 4-6 times a year and we'll be happy to let you know about our next scheduled courses. We have a variety of formats (in person only, all virtual, and hybrid) to fit your schedule. Help our students gain one of the most basic and important life skills they'll ever need - the ability to read. DTP tutors come from all walks of life and range in age from college students to retirees, but we do have some basic requirements: 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent Strong command of spoken and written English Ability to pass a background check Complete the 30 hour Orton Gillingham training Commit to 60 hours of tutoring for DTP Submit monthly reports on your student's progress
