Sheppard Pratt is seeking a Service Chief for Child and Adolescent inpatient services on our Towson Campus. The Towson location is hub for many of our core psychiatry services including inpatient, day hospital, urgent care, neuromodulation, research and other state-of-the-art mental healthcare services. There are five child and adolescent inpatient units on this campus, all of which provide exceptional care for this patient population.

What to expect:

The Service Chief provides medical and clinical leadership for an assigned inpatient unit. In collaboration with the Medical Director and Unit Manager, this role helps guide the unit’s treatment philosophy, supports consistent standards of care, and ensures a safe and inclusive environment for patients, families, and staff.

In addition to providing direct clinical care, the Service Chief mentors and supervises team members, promotes collaboration across disciplines, and supports professional development within the unit. They play an active role in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, advancing quality improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of excellence, equity, and teamwork.

This position balances clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care while contributing to the growth and success of the overall service line.

What we need from you:

Required:

Active medical license in the state of Maryland. Board Certification in Psychiatry and a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry certification. Completion of a psychiatry residency program with child psychiatry fellowship. Maryland Controlled Substances Registration and valid DEA Certificate. Experience leading care teams in an acute psychiatric or behavioral health setting. At least three years of experience in an acute psychiatric setting.

The pay range for this position is $265,000 minimum to $325,000 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.
