Estimator
to join our team and help shape the future of homebuilding in St. Louis.
Position Summary
As a Ground-Up Estimator, you will play a critical role in the pre-construction process by developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for new home construction. You will work closely with our purchasing, design, and construction teams to ensure projects are thoroughly scoped, priced, and aligned with our quality and budget expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for single-family and multi-family residential construction projects
Analyze blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to determine scope and cost parameters
Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers and evaluate for cost-effectiveness
Maintain up-to-date pricing databases and historical cost records
Assist with value engineering efforts to optimize project costs without sacrificing quality
Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and purchasing teams during pre-construction phases
Identify cost risks and participate in risk mitigation planning
Support budgeting efforts for new developments and model homes
Requirements
Minimum
2 years of experience
in residential estimating, specifically ground-up construction
Solid understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g.,
PlanSwift, Buildertrend, Bluebeam, or similar )
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and project documentation
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and analytical
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work across departments and with trade partners
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred (but not required with sufficient experience)
