Overview
IT Media Support Specialist role at
Texas Commission on Fire Protection . Performs moderately complex technical support work related to audiovisual systems, media streaming, and IT helpdesk operations. This role involves maintaining and operating audio/video equipment, streaming meetings across platforms, editing media content, and providing general IT support. Works under general supervision, with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Responsibilities Operate and maintain audio and video systems for agency meetings and events. Stream meetings and presentations on platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Facebook Live, and other agency-approved services. Edit and prepare audio and video recordings for upload and archival. Monitor agency calendars to ensure timely setup and support for scheduled meetings. Provide Tier 1 helpdesk support for hardware, software, and user access issues. Assist with basic network troubleshooting and coordination with network administrators. Maintain inventory and documentation of AV and IT equipment. Collaborate with IT and communications teams to ensure consistent media quality and support. Participate in the agency's 24/7 support service commitment and perform related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of audio/video systems and streaming technologies. Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, or similar). Basic understanding of helpdesk operations and IT support practices. Ability to manage multiple calendars and coordinate meeting logistics. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft products.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates or a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Media Production, or related field. Experience with Microsoft Teams, OBS Studio, and other streaming platforms. Prior experience in a helpdesk or IT support role. Familiarity with network fundamentals and troubleshooting. Experience supporting hybrid or remote meetings. Knowledge of audio mixers and related hardware.
