The

Quality Engineer

will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and ensuring compliance with our quality management system under AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015. The engineer will work closely with production, inspection, operations, and customer support to make sure our processes, products, and documentation meet internal standards and customer requirements. This person will be a driver for continuous improvement in quality performance and for fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain, monitor, and improve the AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality management system (QMS).

Develop, revise, and implement quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation as needed to remain compliant.

Plan, coordinate, and perform internal audits of processes and departments; track corrective / preventive actions.

Assist with external audits (surveillance, recertification) and ensure readiness.

Analyze quality data (nonconforming parts, customer returns, scrap, process capability, etc.) to identify trends and root causes.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and inspection teams to establish and maintain process controls, in-process inspection, statistical process control (SPC), etc.

Support new part introductions / product launches: oversee quality planning (PFMEA, control plans), ensure measurement methods, inspection tooling are appropriate.

Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. reducing scrap or rework, increasing first-pass yield).

Work with suppliers to ensure their quality meets requirements; perform supplier audits or assessments if needed.

Assist in maintaining metrology and inspection equipment: calibration, capability, maintenance.

Ensure compliance with customer drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.

Minimum of

3-5 years

of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics machining or similar.

Demonstrated experience with

AS9100D

and/or

ISO 9001:2015

standards — implementing, auditing, and maintaining.

Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g. root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, control charts, process capability, corrective/preventive actions).

Strong measurement/inspection skills; familiarity with metrology equipment and calibration systems.

Excellent statistical analysis skills; comfortable with software tools for data analysis (e.g. Minitab, Excel, etc.).

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to train and influence cross-functional teams.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Certification(s) related to quality (e.g. CQE, ASQ, Six Sigma)

a plus.

Familiarity with computer-based quality / document management systems and ERP.

Experience programming or using measurement devices (CMMs, optical comparators, etc.).
