OPEN ONLY TO EMPLOYEES CURRENTLY EMPLOYED AT THE NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO CUSTODIAL CONTRACT . Under direction of the Custodian Site Supervisor, the incumbent will provide support for the daily custodial maintenance and operation of all facilities at Naval Base San Diego. Incumbent will perform a full range of custodial duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of all assigned buildings and facilities. Pay Rate is $17.60/hourly Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Incumbent will clean and sanitize rest room facilities and related fixtures, including drinking fountains, refrigerated water coolers, custodial mop sinks, rest room sinks, urinals, and toilets: replenish supplies in restrooms, etc. Responsible for sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, stripping, and polishing floors and equipment. Responsible for ensuring all dusting (both high and low) areas are maintained as necessary and polishing furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment. Wash windows (both interior and exterior), mirrors, and walls. Washing windows may require use of ladders. Responsible for ensuring all tables and chairs are cleaned and polished as required. Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles. Move and arrange furniture and equipment for cleaning and replace them when completed. Responsible for cleaning window blinds, either Venetian or vertical, as required. Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities. Perform specialized projects such as restoration programs on floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and other items.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead/Manager.
Accountable For: Possess organizational skills in order to complete all tasks in one day. Ability to work with little or no supervision. Ability to multi-task. Ability to speak, read and write basic English.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
One (1) year of custodial (janitor) experience. General knowledge of hand and power tools. Shall be knowledgeable in Hazardous Material Communication procedures as it relates to cleaning supplies. High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with excellent driving record (must provide current driving record). Ability to pass background investigation and drug screen. Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS). Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able lift up to 50 pounds.
