Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Volunteer Program & Policy Coordinator to help structure and support our growing volunteer team. This foundational role will focus on building out our volunteer program—creating clear policies, streamlining onboarding, and supporting both virtual and in-person volunteers. Responsibilities Develop and implement volunteer policies and procedures for both virtual and event-based roles Create a Volunteer Handbook, onboarding materials, and waiver forms Maintain volunteer role descriptions and applications Manage volunteer communication and scheduling tools Coordinate onboarding, training, and check-ins for new volunteers Support in-person volunteer logistics during occasional South Project events (preferred if local) Track and maintain volunteer records, hours, and engagement metrics Help foster a culture of belonging, recognition, and accountability among volunteers Qualifications Passion for community, empowerment, and organizational impact Strong organizational and written communication skills Experience in volunteer coordination, HR, nonprofit ops, or administration is a plus Comfortable with tools like Google Workspace, Mailchimp, Slack, or CRMs Self-starter with the ability to work independently and remotely Based in or near Richmond, TX (preferred but not required) Bonus: Experience developing policies, handbooks, or SOPs Benefits Gain hands-on experience in nonprofit program development Flexible remote work schedule Opportunity to shape foundational systems and processes Access to South Project events and networking opportunities Letter of recommendation and recognition for your contributions Potential for future paid opportunities as South Project grows
