Overview:
Support the operation and maintenance of Greenidge Generation's 106MW natural gas-fired steam turbine and mining facility. Responsible for maintenance planning, technical troubleshooting, project management, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, with a focus on optimizing plant reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and Hashrate teams on equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance in compliance with codes and standards.
Employ and document predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and ultrasonic inspection, to monitor rotating equipment health and prevent failures.
Lead and develop a comprehensive heat rate improvement plan, including system analysis, identification of efficiency improvement opportunities, and implementation of industry best practices and technologies to reduce plant heat rate and fuel consumption
Plan, coordinate, and manage maintenance and outage schedules with internal teams.
Lead O&M and capital projects: scope development, RFP creation, vendor evaluation, contract management, and project execution.
Maintain and update plant technical documentation, including drawings, system descriptions, and control narratives.
Conduct root cause analysis and incident investigations.
Perform plant equipment condition assessments to support maintenance planning.
Ensure adherence to all safety and environmental standards and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
3+ years of experience in power generation or industrial plant engineering preferred.
Valid NYS Driver's License.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical exam.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools.
Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, NFPA, and other applicable codes and standards.
Skilled in reading and interpreting P&IDs, schematics, flow diagrams, and technical drawings.
Knowledge and practical experience in vibration analysis of rotating equipment (e.g., turbines, pumps, compressors) as part of condition monitoring.
Demonstrated use of predictive maintenance techniques, such as vibration monitoring, thermal imaging, and ultrasonic analysis, to identify equipment faults, optimize reliability, and prevent unscheduled downtime.
Familiarity with electrical and process control systems, including PLCs and DCS.
Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, boilers, turbines, and compressors.
Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight.
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Project.
