Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in an academic Level 1 Trauma Center with strong hematology-oncology patient focus.

Responsibilities Work in a 40-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within an academic medical center Primary patient population includes hematology and oncology cases, with common diagnoses such as leukemia and those requiring symptom or end-of-life management Typical RN patient ratio is 1:4-5 depending on acuity Floating is required within the cancer center first, then to any med-surg unit in the hospital; emergency float clause covers up to 5 facilities Centralized telemetry monitoring in use; RNs verify strips every shift Epic is used for EMR, with Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, and Philips monitors Shifts are 0630-1900 (days) or 1830-0700 (nights) with a schedule cycle every 6 weeks Every other weekend rotation is required and no on-call responsibilities Travelers must work 75% of holidays Daily responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, administering chemotherapy and blood products, port access, and managing oncology and comfort care patients Support staff includes CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomists, IV teams (days), respiratory therapists, and hospitalists available 24/7 Unit utilizes a team-based approach with designated charge nurses on days Departmental orientation includes 2 days in addition to facility's new employee orientation Required to wear royal blue scrubs Free onsite parking is available for staff Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested, extensions required for longer absences First-time travelers with at least 1 year of experience will be considered

Requirements Active RN license required Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory NIHSS certification required for Resource Team A minimum of 1 year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience is required; oncology experience preferred Competency in port access, blood product administration, PIV starts, cardiac rhythm interpretation, electrolyte management, pain and symptom management, and end-of-life care is necessary EMR experience with Epic is preferred ONS and OCN certifications are preferred but not required Must provide a recent professional reference from a supervisor or charge RN
