Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities Work in a 28-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting Patient population includes orthopedic, spine, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow cases Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-6, with surge capacity up to 1:7-8 Shifts are 12 hours, 0700-1900, with every other weekend required Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays On-call is not required Floating is required within Region 1 facilities and within scope of practice; paid for travel time during mid-shift float Uses Epic EMR, BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips/Masimo monitors Remote telemetry monitoring is utilized Provide care for post-surgical and trauma patients with a variety of complex needs Support is provided by CNAs, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapists, charge nurse, hospitalist, house supervisor, and rapid response/behavioral teams Positive, supportive unit culture Required to wear navy scrubs Free parking provided in designated areas Facility offers NEO and two days of departmental orientation First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred
Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Tele RN experience required Current BLS and ACLS certifications required NIHSS certification required for Resource Team Demonstrated general post-surgical skills including incision care, assessment, drains, wound care/vacs, mobility, trach care, and NG tube insertion Epic charting experience preferred Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit to be eligible One professional reference from supervisor, manager, director, or charge RN dated within the last year required
