Position Summary:
The QE will act as the liaison between the customer ensuring product quality, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily inspections, sorting, and containment activities for machined and welded components, assemblies, axles, and powertrain parts Investigate and resolve non-conformances (NCs) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) Collaborate with Client teams to address quality concerns and drive root cause analysis Support and manage PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and submissions Facilitate communication between Client manufacturing plants and quality teams Monitor and report on quality metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives Provide technical support during launch phases, engineering changes, and process validations Travel to plants or supplier sites as needed for issue resolution and quality audits Maintain a proactive presence on the shop floor to ensure compliance with Client standards and expectations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing quality Strong background in machined parts, welded assemblies, axles, and powertrain systems Hands-on experience with plant quality systems, customer interfacing, and problem-solving tools (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.) Proficient in CAPA, NC management, and PPAP documentation Familiarity with Client quality systems and expectations is a strong plus Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic environment Willingness to travel 30 - 50% as needed
Work Schedule:
Flexible part-time hours: 10 - 30 hours/week Typical schedule: 4 - 5 hours/day, based on project needs Freelance/contract basis with potential for extension based on performance and business needs
