The Assistant Lead acts as a backup in the absence of the Production Lead. In addition, the Assistant Lead performs duties related to general production including the set up and operation of equipment which blends/mixes/packages/transportsdry or liquid materials that comprise customer products. The Assistant Lead must emphasize the importance of meeting or exceeding customer requirements by remaining committed to the delivery of on-time, defect-free products.

Work Schedule : 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM Monday through Friday

Responsibilities Perform the role of the Production Lead when the Production Lead is absent. When not filling in for the Production Lead, this position performs the responsibilities of a Machine Operator. Set up, start, and operate machinery to mix, extrude, discharge, or handle materials according to operating procedures ensuring strands of material are continuous and ensure all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards. Weigh ingredients to meet specifications and insert them into machinery, or ensure the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and insert pre-blended materials into machinery. Monitor production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues. Examines material visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards. Transfer samples of materials to the lab for evaluation and follow instructions on any batch adjustments if needed. Package the finished pelletized materials in containers and/or bags. Refer issues/problems to Production Lead or Production Manager for disposition. Perform all required machine cleaning. Complete and maintain all required system inputs/transactions. Responsible for data integrity. Document work completed as required including logs, data reports, procedures, etc. Participate in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods. Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeeping standards. Material handling. Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent. Skills and Abilities

Mechanical aptitude and skills highly preferred Previous supervisory experience is ideal Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Cimpro, and related systems is a plus Familiarity with lean manufacturing processes is a plus Must have a positive attitude Dependable Excellent attendance Strong work ethic Works well with others Safety awareness Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Forklift experience preferred Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred 2 years of production/manufacturing experience preferred Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and/or hear. Occasionally employee is required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, respirators, face shield, hearing protection, Tyvek suit, gloves, etc. Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is to be used while performing this job as specified by plant safety procedures. While performing this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents. Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard.
