Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU night shift position in a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital, requiring two years of Adult ICU experience and competency with Epic.
Responsibilities Work in a 29-bed Neuro ICU within a large Level 1 trauma teaching hospital Patient population includes neuro cases such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and post-op craniotomies RN to patient ratios are typically 1:2, occasionally 1:3 for downgraded patients Average daily census of 29 patients Use of advanced equipment including EVD/ICP monitoring, Artic Sun, Vigilance Monitor, CRRT, ventilators, and Omnicell EMR is Epic and experience with Epic is required Night shift from 1845-0715, 36-hour option available Weekend rotation is every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Required to float to Adult Critical Care units as needed (MICU, STICU, Dixon Heart, CTICU) and may float to PCU with a 1:3 max ratio No on-call requirements Responsibilities include managing complex neurocritical care patients and responding to stroke alerts Support available from charge nurse, supervisor, intensivist, stroke response nurse, and RT 24/7 Department culture prioritizes teamwork and retention Travelers expected to work 75% of holidays in the assignment period Orientation includes New Employee Orientation and two days of departmental training based on individual skills Free parking provided Navy blue scrubs required Paid phlebotomy is nurse-drawn Manager approval required for requested time off
Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required Minimum two years of experience in Adult ICU Must have completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignment Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Epic EMR experience required Demonstrated skills in managing EVDs, ICP monitoring, ventilator management, vasoactive drips, tracheostomy care, and central line maintenance Competency with CRRT preferred
