Develop, implement, and maintain a unified and vertically aligned K-12 system of athletics and student activities that supports student development and builds strong feeder programs across all levels. Collaborate with principals, teachers, coaches, directors, and the Assistant AD to integrate athletic and activity programs with the overall educational mission of the district. Provide strategic direction and leadership for the improvement and sustainability of all extracurricular programs. Supervise the Assistant Athletic & Activities Director and provide oversight of all departmental staff. Recommend the hiring and assignment of coaches, directors, and sponsors in coordination with HR and principals. Provide ongoing professional development, evaluation, and support for staff to ensure quality instruction and compliance with policies. Foster a positive, collaborative culture within the department and among district schools. Ensure district compliance with Arkansas Activities Association (AAA), NCAA, and Title IX regulations. Direct the development, revision, and implementation of policies, guidelines, and constitutions for all athletic and activities programs. Maintain responsibility for the fiscal control of all athletic and activities budgets, including purchasing, inventory management, and reporting. Supervise district participation in the AAA and represent the district in matters pertaining to interscholastic competition and eligibility. Oversee the scheduling, maintenance, and use of all athletic and activities facilities, including stadiums, gymnasiums, tracks, and fine arts venues. Direct and coordinate the purchase, allocation, inventories, storage, and cleaning of all athletic equipment. Coordinate and manage logistics for all athletic contests and extracurricular events, including scheduling, contracts, officials, security, transportation, ticket sales, advertising, and equipment. Ensure adequate event staffing and supervision, including ticket sales, safety personnel, and operations staff. Serve as the district liaison to athletic booster clubs, activity support groups, and community partners. Develop and oversee a strategic, districtwide approach to fundraising for athletics and activities that ensures equity and transparency. Promote community understanding and support through public engagement, clear communication, and collaborative partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and media. Approve and support the coordination of promotional activities, including news releases, schedules, awards, and recognitions. Support inclusive student participation by using data, surveys, and feedback to enhance program access and impact. Coordinate the involvement of auxiliary groups such as cheerleaders, bands, drill teams, and spirit organizations at events. Ensure all activities promote student growth, character development, sportsmanship, and a positive school culture. Maintain confidentiality. Maintains prompt and regular attendance and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others. Evaluates and supervises departmental staff. Maintain emotional control under stress. Serve on committees as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
