The Student Support Services team provides students the support and interventions that they need to be successful socially, emotionally, behaviorally and academically. The team works together to problem solve and determine the best intervention necessary to meet the holistic needs of each student. Essential Job Functions Relative to the role of Director of Student Life
Engage and build rapport with all students Uphold student confidentiality and adhere to Daystar protocol and policies Complete proper documentation when meeting with a student Provide in-service and manage trainings that increase theoretical congruence and uniform practices related to restorative approaches for a whole-school approach Monitor MYP/DP tracker and SSS referrals weekly and follow up with student and/or teacher Coordinate behavioral support strategies to be implemented by the teaching team Collaborate with the MYP/DP teaching team on effective strategies to implement within the classroom Provide assistance for teachers with students exhibiting behavioral concerns Implement Daystar’s discipline policy (Tier 2 and Tier 3) for MYP/DP students Respond to all behavioral needs of MYP/DP students brought to the Support Services Office Communicate with parents and attend parent meetings as needed Monitor Bark alerts in collaboration with the SEL Student Support Coordinator and follow up within 8 hours Develop and implement post-secondary programming and support for Daystar High School Write letters of recommendation for students Create monthly newsletters about post-secondary planning Collaborate with the IB MYP/DP Coordinator on post-secondary administrative tasks Coordinate all after-school extracurricular activities and programs, including hiring and supervising staff Provide vision and insight for high school culture through extracurricular activities and events Act as liaison between middle school and high school to increase Daystar enrollment Review new MS & HS student applicants Attend at least one MYP/DP team meeting each week Attend weekly SSS meetings Collaborate with teaching teams and attend collaborative meetings as needed Attend professional development training throughout the school year All other duties as assigned by the Head of School Essential Job Functions Relative to role as Director of Athletics
Oversees and manages the entire athletic program and department to ensure quality competition and sportsmanship for athletes Assists the Head of School and HR Program Manager with recruitment and hiring of coaches and athletic staff Schedules and facilitates all athletic contests, including coordinating medical, safety, and other support staff; managing facilities; and maintaining contracts and related documentation Arranges transportation to and from away contests Oversees ticket sales and financial accounting for the athletic program Manages insurance coverage for the athletic program and ensures timely filing of claims Organizes required medical examinations for students and staff Maintains working relationships with athletic booster groups and supports creation of additional groups if needed Coordinates with Daystar staff to ensure coverage and recognition of athletes and coaches Ensures compliance with IHSA regulations and other affiliations Familiar with Crisis Manual and ensures coach training/onboarding with HR Manager Collaborates with HR to create job descriptions for athletic coaches and reviews resumes and applications Acts as official IHSAA representative Collects and coordinates sports physicals Performs other related duties as assigned Administrative Responsibilities
Provide reports to the Daystar Board as requested Serve on schoolwide committees as requested Participate in planning and implementation of staff-wide professional development Participate in regular Administrative Team meetings and provide counsel on school-wide impact Participate in planning and management of schoolwide events and activities Location: Chicago, IL
