Poised in the heart of downtown- on the banks of Lady Bird Lake-the Hotel offers a convenient escape for those looking to explore Austin's iconic happenings from a secluded oasis. Offering 286 total guest rooms and suites, two award-winning dining outlets (Ciclo and Live Oak), a luxury spa, and 17,121 sq. ft. (1,591 m2) of event space, we remain one of Austin's first and longest-standing luxury hotels. Guests come for our legendary service and well-appointed accommodations and then return for our exciting seasonal activations and ever-evolving food and beverage offerings.
About the role
Four Seasons Hotel Austin is seeking a Director of Rooms to join our dynamic Rooms Team. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience with directing and controlling the activities of the Front Desk, Reservations, Communications, Concierge, Housekeeping, Bell Staff and Driveway Staff. They will also respond to a wide variety of guest requests by accurately assessing the guest needs and requests and then adding personal recommendations and touches to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons' policies.
What you will do
The Director of Rooms sits on the Hotel's executive leadership team and will: Manage the Department Heads in the departments named above. Ensures thorough communications and follow-up on any problems, guest or employee request or special requirements, and hotel initiatives. Interviews, and trains the staff. Conducts Performance Evaluations and disciplines staff when needed. Review and monitor schedules of staff in all departments in the Rooms Division. Monitor their activities to assure that standards are being met, staff is being supported and guest needs are being met. Inspect all areas of responsibility in the Rooms Division. Resolve customer complaints from all areas of the hotel, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible. Will resolve complaints in person, by phone or through written message. Assist customers in all inquiries in connection with hotel services, hours of operations, key hotel personnel, in-house events, directions, etc. Respond to all guest requests in an accurate and timely manner. Interaction with guest will be in person and by phone. Assure that financial goals are being met. Monitor and control labor expense, and supplies/equipment expenses. Work closely with Reservations, Sales and the Front Office to maximize rate, occupancy and total revenue. Maintain close relationships with retail tenants and concessions to ensure guest service standards are met along with revenue/expense targets. What you bring
College degree or equivalent experience preferred. Five to seven years previous experience in the rooms division or related management position. Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language. The ability to multi-task on serval assignments at once. The ability to have strong communication skills between co-workers and guests. The ability to operate computer equipment and other computer systems used in the rooms division.
