Job Title: Bridge Engineer
Location: Canonsburg, PA

Bridge Engineer Objective
Develop expertise in bridge infrastructure design and transportation engineering through hands-on project involvement. This position targets civil or structural engineering graduates and early-career professionals with 0-5 years of experience seeking to build foundational skills in bridge design and structural analysis. The role provides direct exposure to infrastructure projects that enhance community safety and mobility while offering structured professional development and mentorship toward PE licensure achievement.
Responsibilities
Execute bridge design engineering tasks including structural load rating calculations, comprehensive structural analysis, and foundation system design
Produce detailed design drawings, construction documentation, technical specifications, and project cost estimations for bridge and transportation infrastructure
Maintain comprehensive documentation of bridge design files, technical reports, and project budget tracking
Provide project management support through schedule coordination, documentation preparation, and presentation development
Verify design compliance with state and local regulatory standards, building codes, and safety requirements
Implement and support quality assurance/quality control protocols to ensure deliverable accuracy and completeness
Conduct field inspection activities and generate detailed bridge condition assessment reports with foundation analysis
Deliver technical assistance during construction phases, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and participate in site visits
Coordinate with internal project teams, clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies for integrated project execution
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
0-5 years of transportation engineering experience
Proficiency in MicroStation software
Experience with STAAD structural analysis software
Knowledge of bridge design software applications
Analytical thinking and engineering problem-solving capabilities
Project ownership and effective task prioritization abilities
Adaptability in meeting project deliverables and deadline requirements
Construction phase support and technical assistance experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Structures/bridge design engineering experience
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification
Familiarity with state DOT design standards (NYSDOT or PennDOT)
Field inspection and bridge condition assessment experience
Construction document preparation experience
