Senior Estimator
Location: McMurray, PA

Position Overview
System One is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead and deliver comprehensive estimating services for a wide range of construction projects. This role requires strong knowledge of ground-up construction across building and civil disciplines, with a preference for candidates experienced in heavy power or industrial sectors. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate cost models, supporting bidding strategies, and ensuring projects are competitively positioned for success.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and coordinate complete cost estimates, leveraging historical data, productivity benchmarks, and prior cost reports.
Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope of work to develop accurate and detailed estimates.
Build conceptual and detailed estimates aligned with divisional AIA codes and provide final pricing recommendations for complex projects.
Offer technical guidance and support to junior estimators and discipline-specific teams.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and supporting data for all estimates.
Partner with operations during the bid process, including inquiries, bid evaluations, and negotiations.
Monitor cost performance on awarded contracts, including pricing of extras, change orders, credits, and material procurement.
Contribute to continuous process improvements and provide estimating expertise across the organization.
Qualifications
Proficiency in preparing estimates for diverse project types and contract structures.
Strong leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to mentor others.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of explaining complex estimates to clients and stakeholders.
Analytical thinker with proven problem-solving skills and sound decision-making under pressure.
Highly self-motivated, deadline-driven, and proactive in taking ownership of tasks.
Strong client focus with resilience and professionalism in high-pressure environments.
Commitment to ethical practices and creative, solution-oriented thinking.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent technical training/experience.
5–10 years of progressive experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering, with at least 4 years dedicated to estimating in facility construction or related environments.
