Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and delivering therapeutic interventions aimed at helping patients improve their daily living and work skills, as per the physician’s prescriptions. This role emphasizes developing patient-centered treatment goals, consistently reassessing progress, and maintaining meticulous documentation to support quality care.
Essential Functions
Perform thorough occupational therapy evaluations to assess patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs, and document findings comprehensively.
Create tailored treatment plans with measurable goals and effective interventions, ensuring they are well-documented for smooth execution by other therapy professionals.
Administer safe and effective treatment interventions, including therapeutic exercises, equipment training, and patient education, with detailed session documentation.
Regularly assess patient progress, modify treatment plans when necessary, and provide updates to the care team and referring physician.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, to optimize patient outcomes and ensure seamless care coordination.
Exhibit proficiency in delivering treatment to diverse patient populations, adapting techniques and interventions to meet varying age groups and conditions.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment, ensuring proper use and upkeep of all therapeutic equipment.
Provide guidance and orientation for new staff and occupational therapy students, supporting their professional development and adherence to best practices.
Ensure accurate and timely billing documentation that accurately reflects the services provided and meets organizational and regulatory guidelines.
Perform additional duties as assigned and maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Adhere to all workplace policies and standards.
Qualifications
1-3 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist in a relevant setting required.
Experience in a hospital or rehabilitation facility is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep understanding of occupational therapy principles, practices, and evidence-based techniques.
Competency in conducting evaluations and crafting individualized treatment plans.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and team members.
Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks.
Able to mentor and train students or new staff members in best occupational therapy practices.
Commitment to safeguarding patient privacy and complying with ethical and regulatory standards.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation purposes.
Licenses and Certifications
OT - Occupational Therapist - Registered from the state regulatory board required.
BCLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
