POSITION SUMMARY:

New Vista Nursing is a large facility looking to hire a DON with compensation to match. The Director of Nursing is the highest level of position in the nursing department. This position takes on the responsibilities of the nursing department. He/she provides direct management in the functioning of the nursing department.

Responsibilities/ACCOUNTABILITIES: Develop, organize and implement the philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and standards of nursing care in accordance with the goals of New Vista Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Confers with the Administrator in assessing the quality of nursing care being delivered and recognizes the need for improving or changing nursing practices; Makes daily rounds to evaluate resident care, the progress of individual employees, monitors nursing practices. Remains cognizant of legal aspects of nursing practice as well as government regulations; demonstrates this in teaching, supervision, and evaluation of resident care; Assists with daily scheduling to ensure adequate and safe staffing necessary to deliver nursing services; keeps within predetermined par level staffing ratios; Participates in internal audit of nursing practice and in the plan of correction when deficits are identified; Assures that MDS, RAPS and care plans for the residents on the unit are completed in a timely manner and comply with all nursing facility/regulatory policies; Participates in the Q.I program of the nursing facility; SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current registered nurse licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing. A minimum of five years full-time or equivalent clinical experience in a LTC facility is required and a minimum of two years in a management/administrative or supervisory capacity. BSN preferred. JOB SKILLS:

Must have thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, and practices. Must have thorough knowledge of the mechanics of modem nursing care equipment and devices. Must have considerable knowledge of medications, their proper dosage and expected results. Must possess the ability to work independently, problem solve and make decisions as necessary. Must possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, resident, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must have ability to supervise nursing functions in an effective manner. Must have ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions of a technical nature. Must possess thorough knowledge of licensing and certification regulations. Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
