Description
Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.
Job Summary: Move and store fabric as needed. Be able and willing to flex to other positions in the department as needed such as material handler for post, bagger put up, and QC inspection.
Essential Functions: Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards: Move and store fabric as it goes through the Finishing and Post Inspection processes Maintain electronic records (LXE gun and computer) showing the location of fabric Prepare fabric for shipment and/or storage. Properly identify fabric with appropriate labels and tickets, being sure all data matches. Return the fabric to a proper storage location. Keep the work area clean. Maintain good housekeeping. Work scheduled overtime. Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
Must cross train for QC inspection. Must flex over from put up to material handling as needed. Maintain 5 points or less within a 6 month period. Safety:
Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor as soon as possible. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. Maintain 5 S standards. Safety belt and harness while using PIT. Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others. Basic reading, writing, and math skills. A forklift license is required for moving buggies and lifting fabric to storage tubes. Basic computer skills and use of LXE gun
