Job Description

General Description: As the HVAC Technician the individual will be required to perform operation, maintenance, repair and installation of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning [HVAC] systems and other related components.

Duties and Tasks: Perform regular diagnostic testing, operational checks and scheduled preventative maintenance of equipment to confirm operational performance. Help coordinate seasonal startup and shutdown. Complete preventative maintenance assignments in a timely manner. HVAC maintenance and repair. Trouble-shoot and locate faults and shorts in wiring, controls, relays, conduits, and connectors. Keep an inventory of all HVAC supplies and inform Facility Manager of quantities on hand or required. Perform maintenance work, troubleshoot and repair systems. Support emergency operations. Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

KSA's :

Knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance, repair, and replacement of HVAC equipment. Ability to assist in the repair and maintenance of a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to, air conditioning, boilers, air-handlers, fan coil units, pumps, valves, controllers (both DOC & Pneumatic), motors, starters, refrigeration and automated control systems. Ability to follow verbal instruction. Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently. Proficient in the use of hand, electrical tools, as well as service manuals and all diagnostic equipment related to the trade. Ability to lift/move 50 Ib. on a regular basis. Ability to function in close quarters or cramped environments. Ability to participate in snow removal detail. Ability to operate all required equipment. Minimum Work Experience:

Valid driver's license and good driving record. Universal Refrigeration Certificate. Experience with Building Automation Systems. Commercial HVAC Training Experience in the operation and maintenance of Commercial HVAC equipment and preventive maintenance operation Experience with maintenance project. Additional Considerations

Additional Considerations:

Journeymen license/HVAC Trade license. Experience working from Mechanical drawings and building blueprints. Experience on operation and maintenance of chillers, heat pumps, air handlers, geothermal system.
