Controls Engineer
As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing PLC control systems for burners, focusing on areas such as fuel/air delivery, ignition, flame monitoring, safety, efficiency, and emissions. Your role will involve implementing, commissioning, and testing these control systems in the field. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and optimize the systems to improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and enhance safety features. You will collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and customers to integrate and support systems, while also providing technical support, maintaining customer relationships, and identifying new equipment and service opportunities. Responsibilities: Design and develop PLC control systems for burners. Install, commission, and test control systems in the field. Diagnose and resolve control system issues. Optimize systems for efficiency, reduced emissions, and enhanced safety. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and customers. Provide technical support and maintain customer relationships. Identify new equipment and service opportunities. Essential Skills: Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion, and control systems. Expertise in PLC programming and troubleshooting using Siemens, Rockwell. Familiarity with CCS, BMS, SCADA, CAD, and industrial burner controls. Knowledge of industrial boilers, packaged/field-erect units, and auxiliary equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic C++ experience is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in the mechanical/electrical industry. Experience with control systems, pressure vessels, and boiler systems. Work Environment: The work environment includes working on the shop floor, in the office, and traveling to manufacturing facilities. The company is growing rapidly, operating in three states with six locations, and is the largest boiler service and sales company in the Chattanooga area.
