Job Purpose

Provide counseling services and outreach programming/workshops to university students. Counseling is provided through individual, group and couple's therapy.

Essential Functions

Counsel university students regarding personal, academic and social/emotional concerns by conducting intakes (initial counseling appointment), individual, couples or group therapy. Consult with university staff and others (e.g., parents), regarding student concerns. Develop and present psycho-educational and academic workshops/outreach programming. Assist in the supervision of graduate level practicum and intern students. Participate in professional development, as required for licensure. Serve on university committees and other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited institution in Mental Health Counseling (60 hour degree), Social Work, Psychology or Educational Psychology. One to three years of counseling/therapy experience. Current TN license/eligible (license must be obtained within one year of hire date) in one of the following helping professions: Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; Licensed Clinical Social Worker; Senior Psychological Examiner.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in counseling college students. Experience with clinical supervision of counseling interns/practicum students. Experience in the treatment of mood disorders, eating disorders, and trauma related issues.

Work Hours

Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Other hours as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 10.
