ENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is a member of a centrally supervised technology team that provides support across 20 or more individual school and office locations, serving 11,000 students and up to 1500 employees, who are all end users of this District's multi-million dollar Technology Program. The successful applicant will assist in providing support in establishing, integrating, and maintaining computers and similar technology related devices, in addition to integrating and maintaining the vast array of network and software support that underpins our technology assets in order to provide comprehensive, efficient and effective classroom technology that supports District-wide student learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by successful applicants in this position:
Install, configure, upgrade and maintain both the software and hardware necessary for the efficient and effective operation of all technology assets, including computers, related devices and peripherals, a variety of operating platforms, and educational software. Working primarily through the central Help Desk Ticket system and at the direction of the Director of Technology, diagnose, repair and maintain technology assets to insure the effective and efficient operation of the technology program across the District. Assist in troubleshooting basic network and VOIP issues. Perform preventative maintenance on District technology equipment. Provide higher level, advanced technology assistance to staff and students, to support classroom based implementation of devices and software for educational purposes. Maintain up-to-date accurate records for all inventory and repair and/or maintenance work performed across the District. Prepares written materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information. Manage and support server based information and communication systems (SIS, E-Mail, Library, Web, etc). Transport a variety of items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at job site or transporting equipment for repair. Perform other relevant duties related to the centralized oversight of the District's technology assets that support the mission and vision of the Danbury Public School District. Knowledge of Windows, Macintosh and other operating systems used within the District. Knowledge of basic computer hardware and peripherals. Knowledge of basic network concepts and technology Knowledge of server operating systems (Microsoft Server, Mac OS X Server) Basic knowledge of educational and business software applications in order to support District staff and students: -Microsoft Office Suite, AppleWorks -Common open-source software applications -Common Internet Browsers -E-Mail software (Chrome & Gmail) -Common multimedia software applications and tools. Knowledge of basic networking concepts, devices and security. Possesses excellent communication skiils, both written and verbal. Possess proven ability to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data. Demonstrates the ability to work successfully in both independent and team environments. Demonstrates willingness to learn and become proficient in education-related software programs. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities. General physical demands include ability to transport, lift or move heavy technology assets, up to 50 pounds. Own transportation is required for travel across the District as directed by the Supervisor. EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High School diploma or equivalent. Advanced degree (Bachelors' Degree or Associates' Degree) in computer science or a related field preferred. Two (2) or more years of demonstrated educational credits in technology or related fields are also strongly considered. Certification in technology repair, such as Apple Certification, and/or equivalent demonstrated job experience in the area of technology repair required. Applicants should be prepared to describe in detail demonstrated competency and success in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting across diverse technology, preferably in a school based environment. Successful completion of coursework or certification in one or more of the following platforms is also preferred: Apple, Microsoft Office, Google, PowerSchool or similar educational software.
OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS:
Knowledge of Windows, Macintosh and other operating systems used within the District. Knowledge of basic computer hardware and peripherals. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: The terms and conditions of this position are governed by a collective bargaining agreement between the Danbury Public Schools and UPSEU, a copy of which can be found on the District website at www.danbury.k12.ct.us under the District and Human Resources tabs. General terms of employment include a 12-month work year, starting wages at $48,618.50 per year (maximum step $52,475.50 per year), and access to health and welfare benefit plans as described in the collective bargaining agreement. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Technology at the Beaver Brook Central Office.
