Senior Applications Engineer, Actuators

The Senior Applications Engineer will lead cross-functional engineering efforts in the design, development, validation and launch of advanced actuation systems. These systems may include mechanical hardware, solenoids or DC motors, sensors and controls electronics. This role supports both customer-facing and internal development activities, ensuring seamless integration of mechanical and electrical subsystems in powertrain and driveline applications. Key Accountabilities Lead engineering project through the full product lifecyclefrom concept to production launch. Develop and validate electro-mechanical hardware for 4WD/AWD systems and/or engine timing systems Select and integrate appropriate hardware and electronics for system requirements Work with designers to create component and assembly drawings and product BOM Perform design calculations and system-level simulations using CAE tools Create and maintain engineering specifications, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and control plans. Conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving for complex technical issues. Benchmark competitor products and contribute to cost optimization strategies. Serve as the primary technical contact for OEM customers. Support prototype builds, validation testing, and calibration activities. Collaborate with CAD, CAE, purchasing, manufacturing, software, and quality teams. Provide engineering data for sales, quoting, and sourcing decisions. Support APQP, DFM/DFA, and IATF 16949 compliance. Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering organization. Ensure alignment with safety, health, and environmental standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred) 5-8+ years of experience in product design and development Experience with automotive powertrain, driveline or 4WD/AWD systems is preferred Experience in DC motor and solenoid products is preferred Experience or training in DFMEA development and maintenance Experience or training in root cause analysis Skilled in Microsoft Office, CAE tools and statistical analysis Strong understanding of design processes, GD&T, and manufacturing principles Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills Key Competencies Drive for Results Functional/Technical Skills Problem Solving Learning on the Fly Creativity Priority Setting Decision Quality Conflict Management Informing Interpersonal Savvy
