Interior Alerts Design and Release Engineer (DRE)

Position Description: The Interior Alerts Design and Release Engineer (DRE) will lead the design, development, and engineering release of QVPM, horns, and external speakers for production vehicles. This role covers the full product lifecyclefrom initial concept, packaging, and software/hardware integration to analysis, validation, launch, and production support. The DRE will ensure that all system and component-level functional objectives are defined, achieved, and aligned with vehicle-level requirements. Responsibilities Lead and oversee component/system design from concept through launch, including FMEA, CAE analysis, packaging (NX), model/drawing integrity (Teamcenter), validation (DVP&R), BOM management, and change management. Direct supplier design efforts and participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with specifications and expectations. Ensure all systems meet quality, performance, cost, and timing objectives. Partner with the advanced engineering team to develop, define, and package designs prior to sourcing. Act as the regional on-site support for interior alerting components. Develop and maintain boundary diagrams, interface matrices, parameter diagrams, DFMEA, and DVP&R documentation. Support system integration with surrounding components, ECUs, and vehicle network communications. Conduct benchmarking, competitive analysis, and research on emerging technologies. Contribute to quality and warranty initiatives through technical evaluations and compliance with regulatory requirements. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for design and process-related issues to improve customer satisfaction. Support RFQ processes by performing technical evaluations and providing recommendations. Lead suppliers in the development, testing, and release of hardware/software aligned with vehicle-level objectives. Review and approve software and hardware releases, including validation reports (CVVRs, DVP&R). Report development status regularly through presentations, issue tracking, and project timelines. Apply design best practices and lessons learned from past projects. Collaborate with EE systems engineering to define vehicle functional specifications and perform requirements analysis (RAR).

Qualifications

Required: Bachelors degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited). Minimum 3 years of automotive engineering experience. Proven leadership skills with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams. Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with attention to detail. Experience in mechatronic component design, release processes, and physical vehicle integration. Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, TeamCenter Vis, CATIA, or SolidWorks. Experience with engineering project management on global platforms. Experience designing and operating electrical test benches for software integration.

Preferred: Background in alerting system design/release. Familiarity with LIN and CAN network communications. Hands-on experience with calibration and diagnostic tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, INCA, Witech, CDA). Experience applying reactive problem-solving tools. Exposure to Lean/continuous improvement methods.
