Michael Baker International is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Commissioning Consultant
to lead and manage the commissioning process for complex building systems across commercial, industrial, or institutional projects. The ideal candidate will ensure that all systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated according to the owner's requirements and industry standards. This position presents an opportunity as a seller / doer to influence major infrastructure projects within complex environments, supporting growth in the Commissioning sector while cultivating relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors, and vendors. What You'll Do
Drive complex Commissioning Requirements with precision and innovation. Collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-performance solutions. Represent Michael Baker as a technical leader and trusted partner. Additional Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive commissioning plans and schedules Review design documents to ensure commissioning requirements are incorporated Coordinate commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems Lead pre-functional and functional performance testing of building systems Collaborate with project stakeholders including owners, architects, engineers, and contractors Monitor installation and start-up procedures to ensure compliance with specifications Facilitate training sessions for operations and maintenance personnel Document commissioning results and prepare final reports for client handover Support sustainability and energy efficiency goals, including LEED or WELL certification Conduct seasonal testing and post-occupancy evaluations as needed Identify and pursue new business opportunities in commissioning and related services Build and maintain relationships with clients, developers, architects, and engineering firms Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and bids Collaborate with marketing teams to promote commissioning services and thought leadership Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to generate leads Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to refine service strategies Negotiate contracts and scope of work with clients and partners Track sales pipeline and contribute to revenue growth targets Provide input on pricing models and service packages based on client needs Professional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or related field) 15+ years of experience in building commissioning or construction project management Familiarity with ASHRAE commissioning guidelines and relevant codes Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and control systems Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills Certification from AABC, NEBB, or BCxA is preferred U.S. Citizenship Required Solid experience with applicable software including Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace, or Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) modeling Proficient computer skills utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite Compensation
The salary range for this position is $105,000-$180,000. This will depend on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate. #J-18808-Ljbffr
