Integrated Design leverages the early involvement of all project stakeholders and key disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and fire protection (MEP+S+FP) engineering, as well as architecture and planning. Our Advisory capabilities include providing solutions across the project life cycle along with resilience services. This offering showcases the firm's expertise in areas such as strategic consulting, planning, cybersecurity, building controls, cost management, commissioning, program management, construction support, building information modeling, digital twins, emergency response, disaster recovery, operational continuity, energy resiliency and more.

DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is expanding in the vibrant Austin market, and we're looking for a

Senior Electrical Engineer

who's ready to make a lasting impact. In this role, you'll lead the planning, design, and construction support for a diverse portfolio of healthcare, mission critical, higher education, and complex commercial projects - from concept to completion.

You'll collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to shape innovative electrical systems that stand the test of time. Your expertise will guide the development of RFPs, construction drawings, and specifications that set the standard for excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the design and development of electrical construction documents, including layouts, details, and specifications. Engineer complete building systems-lighting, power distribution, and specialty electrical systems-across a variety of project types. Collaborate with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated building solutions. Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning. Engage with clients in business development activities, support proposal development, and contribute to business growth. Perform advanced analysis, calculations, and design evaluations for electrical power and lighting systems. Use Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to produce construction drawings and design electrical systems, including device layouts, circuiting, lighting, and panel schedules. Review project requirements and coordinate with other disciplines to refine design strategies and respond to evolving project conditions. Participate in client meetings, assess project needs, present design concepts, and adjust plans to meet client expectations. Develop scope of work, develop pricing and technical documentation, and create fee estimates for proposals. Communicate technical and program information clearly to team members, management, and clients. Coordinate or perform field work to gather data and verify existing conditions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards. Conduct internal technical reviews and quality control checks on project deliverables. Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. Edit and review technical specifications and contribute written narratives for project documentation. Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and perform site visits during construction. Support additional tasks, assigned by management. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering 10+ years of related experience required for this position Professional engineering (PE) license required Experience in building electrical design Experience with the National Electrical Code and basic power calculations Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively interface and communicate with team members, customers, subcontractors, and vendors Familiarity with industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects Knowledge of SKM and/or Easy Power software Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and PDF software such as Adobe or Bluebeam Ability to be self-motivated and to research and troubleshoot problems as they arise Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines Complete work in an efficient and accurate manner Ability to train, mentor and supervise junior engineers Availability to occasionally travel to project locations PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Design-Build experience preferred Medium voltage design experienced Lightning protection system design experience LEED Certification (LEED GA, LEED AP, etc.) Knowledge of AGI32 and/or ElumTools lighting design software Experience with Telecommunications, Electronic Security Systems, Intercom, Public Address, Audiovisual, and other special systems is preferred. COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $110,000- $170,000. The actual salary offered will be dependent on the preferred candidate's experience, expertise, and physical location.
