Overview
The Cobol Programmer will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining core banking software systems. This position requires strong expertise in COBOL and related mainframe technologies, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams. The programmer will be responsible for analyzing system capabilities, coding program logic, managing databases, and ensuring compliance with IT standards. The role also involves mentoring junior team members and contributing to strategic IT initiatives, including documentation and coordination with outsourced development teams. Responsibilities
Architect, analyze, develop, enhance, and maintain banking companys core software applications and information systems using COBOL, IBM Assembler Language, Java, JCL, and REXX Review system capabilities and department needs Design, document, and code program logic using IDz, SlickEdit, TSO/ISPF, and IBM ADFz Mainframe toolset Maintain database and data communication system using Spufi, TOAD, and SQL Developer Prepare program test data, analyze test results, and specify data control procedures using DEBUG, Fault Analyzer, APA, ADDI, and MS Office toolset Provide input on strategic IT direction and create specifications for outsourced development and project management using ServiceNow Ensure compliance, integration, backup, and recovery procedures are included Train junior team members Qualifications
Masters in CS/Equiv plus at least 3 years of experience in job offered OR Bachelors Degree in CS/Equiv, plus at least 5 years of progressive software development experience
